I went to Shimo-Kita-Zawa to go shopping.
This area is one of my favourite places to go shopping.
There're tons of interesting second hand clothing stores, antique shops,
cafes,restaurants...
When I was hung around the town,I found some cute sign boards.
It seems for the sign for the member store of the shopping street
or something.
It's very cute and unique, isn't it?

Shiroi-Tai-yaki

I got some "Tai-yaki" today.
It is something special.
What special about it?
You see,it's white!
It has chewy texture.
Usually "tai-yaki" is made of wheat flour, you know.
But it's made of tapioka flour.
So that's why it's white and chewy.
And it's something unique inside of it.
Usually "taiyaki" is stuffed with sweet bean jam,you know.
But it's stuffed with custard cream, chocolate cream, strawberry and whipped cream...
Ummm, it's interesting...

I wanted to try chocolate cream but it was already sold out.
So I tried sweet bean jam, caramel cream and sesame paste.
The caramel one is pretty good!
Actually it looks "Taiyaki" but it taste like new sweets or something .

It's crisp on the outside and creamy in the middle.

I think it makes delicious counterpart to coffee or milk.
You should try it!

This festival with 300 years of tradition.
Can you see a straw dragon that ligature around the shrine gate in the 1st picture above?
It's a charm against bad luck.
It's 7 meters long and it weights 80 kilograms.
People parade along the street holding the straw dragon on their shoulders.
It's a kinda event people pray for good health, protection from evil, and good luck for the year.
There were a lot of food stalls and vendors.
There were crowded with many people.

We had a really good time.
While we were talking, we found out we go to the same gym.Wow!!
I usually wear no makeup when I'm working out.

I got an "Asahiyama Zoo bread 旭山動物園のパン."
It's sooooooo cuuuuuute,isn't it?
It has a cute design with a lesser panda motif, and chocolate cream is inside of it.
The soft moist bread makes it a delicious counterpart to milk,coffee,tea...whatever you want!

BTW, where is Asahiyama zoo 旭山動物園??

Saturday 22 August 2009

I went to a fireworks show at Tama river.
As I mentioned before, this fireworks show is the biggest annual event
in Setagaya and Kawasaki district.
There were 6000 fireworks from Setagaya,
and another 6000 fireworks from Kawasaki.
There were tons of people enjoying a grand display of fireworks.
We brought some beer and snacks.
It was great to drink beer while we enjoyed it with the evening breeze.

A kung-fu lesson.

I took a kung-fu lesson today.
I usually work out at a gym in weekends but during
obon they have some special programs.
I t was my first time to do it.
It was very fun !!!
First,I learned fend off the attack ,
give him a punch, ho!
Fend off another blow,
give him an elbow smash,ho!
Then give him an uppercut

I damaged my hubby's car.

Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!!!!
I damaged my hubby's car!
When I was about to turn a sharp street corner on the narrow street,
I didn't notice that there was a board at the corner.
I scratched the car on the board. Damn it!!
It's not a kinda small nick the paint on it.
It looks like someone scraped off the paint with a blade or something.
Its black body got a big ugly white blemish...
He customized its front fender. So it's a little bit bigger than usual one.
And it's not made of metal, so it irreparableness.
Oh my God!!
He'll kill me!!!

Aderia60

This is my favourite dessert bowl.
It 's produced by 石塚硝子's "Aderia60" brand.
石塚硝子 has made glass tableware under the Aderia60 brand since 1962.
So,their product designs are unchanged since old times.

I eat ice cream,mitu-mame,fruits,yogurt.... with this bowl.
I like their nostalgic design.
It recalls a coffee house in the good old Showa Era.
Don't you think so?

Magic Spice

Summer has come!!
It's soooooooooo hot everyday,isn't it?
Why don't we go to get a spiced curry on a hot day like this?
I had lunch at "Magic Spice" today.
This is a popular curry restaurant at Shimo-Kitazawa.
'Cos their curry is a lille bit unique.
They serve "soup curry."
It's different from Indian curry or Western-style curry.
It's a kinda Japanese-style curry that started a boom in Sapporo.
Then it goes all over Japan.

They have a variety of soup curries.
You can choose your favourite combination from many kinds of
toppings and seven levels of hotness.
I ordered seafood soup curry with 涅槃.
If you like hot food, you can get an extra spicy kick from the toppings.

The restaurant is always full and there is often a long line of people
outside the restaurant waiting to be seated.

I'm addicted to it! ヾ(@⌒¬⌒@)ノ

Shiso-Cola

Do you like perilla(しそ)?
I like to add it in 素麺, or other dishes as a spice.
Apparently it's a kinda bactericidal food.
So it's very effective in preventing food poisoning.

I found it at a supermarket near my house.
Hmm.... Shiso-Cola....
Pepsi made the perilla flavored cola.
What a fresh idea!!

I took a suck at the cola...
Yuck!!!!!!!
I don't want any more.
It doesn't taste good! It's terrible! (>_<;)

The Tanabata Festival

I was at Shibuya yesterday morning.
I found some people were decorating for the Tanabata Star Festival.
The Tanabata Star Festival is a kind of event which is said to be a combination of Chinese tradition with beliefs peculiar to Japan.
July 7th is the day of Tanabata in Japan.
On the day,we write our wishes on colouful stripes of paper and hang them on bamboo branches.
I don't remember the detail of the legend about the festival.
As I recall,it's based on a legend about a couple separated by the Milky way....
Anyway I'm gonna write tons of wishes on stripes of paper and hang them on somewhere. Haha...
